July 2022  |   Vol 3 Issue 1

The first ever CCA activity conducted in ISC this academic year was the debate held on the 6th of July, Wednesday. The topic being “Capitalism is better than socialism”.

There were eight participants in total, two students representing each house from classes XI & XII and two hosts for the day.

Every debater was given a time span of 3 minutes to present their views for or against the notion and questions were being raised soon after, by the fellow participants.

Each one of the students had their own tones and ways of expressing their views and it was a pleasure to watch them have a healthy debate among themselves, having the audience hooked too.

The debate eventually came to an end and was beautifully closed by Mr Anuj Gurwara ‘s opinion about it. He asked a simple question, “why should I listen to you?” and one of the participants answered saying he should not listen to them since they are expressing their opinion. Sir then shared about how an opinion is different from factual data and that a debate must be filled with facts and statistics since they act as undeniable proof.

I personally took away a lot of learning from his views and I am sure so did the entire audience present in the hall at that moment.

Looking forward to more such fun and knowledgeable debates in the future !
