The Earth is theirs too…

Wildlife is the most important factor which helps maintain ecological balance. Wildlife needs to be preserved as it is very important for the balance in nature and also very beautiful. We cannot preserve wildlife by just creating a safe environment for them; we must recreate their natural habitat in a safe way. We must not exploit wildlife and the resources. Human interactions into the wildlife have led to the disappearance of many species of plants and animals. Humans have been exploiting nature and its resources for their own benefits which have caused a drastic drop down in the number of species inhabiting the earth. And for this very reason, It becomes our duty to preserve the existing species from becoming extinct.

Ways in which one can help save the extinction of endangered species.

  • Volunteer to help in your free time.
  • Secure your trash.
  • Plant endangered plants.
  • Try to lessen plastic waste or any other toxic material.
  • Drive carefully in wildlife sanctuaries.
  • Do not buy material made using endangered species.
  • Visit and donate to wildlife sanctuaries.
  • Do not waste water.
  • Reduce pollution.

Please try to follow these tips and more.

CCA

Seed Card Making

A SMALL INITIATIVE BY THE SHERWOODIANS
TO CONSERVE MOTHER EARTH !!

A plantable seed card is what we chose to make for one of our CCA periods..

These are pretty cool cards because they have seeds embedded right in the fiber of the paper so that when you give them to somebody and they take it and plant it, it'll grow into saplings.

What makes this so sustainable and so eco-friendly is the fact that they are made from 100% post consumer and post industrial paper waste.

We soaked bits of used and unwanted papers and mashed them into a pulp. We then added seeds to the pulp and made papers of different sizes and shapes as per our requirement. It leaves no waste behind so these are called zero waste seed cards.

Interestingly the invitation card for the Republic Day celebrations made by the Government of India every year are also plantable ones.

Is it not a worthy task to be taken up by everyone? Next time you decide to gift someone for an occasion , plan well in advance and make a seed card. This way you are gifting not just them, but to the Mother Earth too !!

Make holes in the coconut shell (three small circles are there on the upper surface of the coconut) using a knife.

Then cut a cardboard circle equal to the bottom boundary of your coconut shell.
