21st June, 1983 – a ship set sail, with a captain and its dedicated crew; they were people from different walks of life, different language and cultures, but what fuelled up their journey was a common vision – which was to impart the true essence of education in children.
With the same synergic crew holding the beacon of light, 36 years thereafter, the triumphant voyage is still on – The history of Sherwood Public School traces back to its strong roots laid by the founders and an ever enthusiastic ,loyal, conscientious team of teachers.
When the entire world was headed towards scores and ranks, when child’s potential was judged by the mere numbers on test papers; our founders and the senior teachers believed that every child is unique and he or she has much more to offer in terms of their talent and passion. Moving against the current was not a cake walk though, numerous questions were thrown upon their intention, many hurdles they crossed on the way, but they were unwavering and determined not to give up on their mission. It is in fact, heart warming to see how Sherwood grew step by step and also led to the laying of another sprawling campus in Shadnagar under the able leadership of these diligent teachers. Their lives revolve around the school and Sherwood is marked by the existence of these ideal personalities.
A stalwart, a leading light right from inception, this founder teacher has been a guiding force to anyone who joined this organisation thereafter.
One of the founder teachers - dynamic personality, she drops in a splash of spirit and joy in every event and motivates others to give their best.
Being a dedicated member of the organisation, he shoulders multiple responsibilities and fulfils them at its best.
This gracious smile has been welcoming the tiny tots of Sherwood for 36 years, she is known for her punctuality and never tiring attitude.
An embodiment of determination and strength, she is looked upon by many for the values and principles she abides by.
What make them stand out from the crowd is the amount of dedication with which they continue to work, the countless hardships they faced, the beaming energy that even the young generation can’t match up with, the enduring passion they had stepped in with – their service to the organisation, their guidance to the thousands of students, teachers and parents sees no parallel.
It was their team work that found success in building up the existing beautiful campus of Sherwood and Heritage. This team had every nook and corner of the campus thoughtfully planned, every child carefully nurtured, every parents concerns wilfully heard and sorted, every teacher’s skill sets identified and polished. No thanking word or felicitation would be enough to appreciate their service.
As the teachers retired officially they were felicitated with a token of love by the founders Mrs and Mr Y K Gurwara on the most appropriate day – the teachers’ day. The day saw the teachers of the present generation listening to the remarkable history and contribution of the senior teachers and their exemplary assistance to the noble mission of the founders. It was an emotional moment for all as few anecdotes were narrated from the life of these teachers. Their life is invaluable, their purpose is righteous and any child, parent or teacher who comes across these individuals has a lot to imbibe from them.
The exceptional journey of these gifted souls continues in the schools, their words of wisdom would prove to be the guiding force for many more generations to come.
